After a one-year hiatus, the NFL will return to Munich for a game next year. Representatives of the world’s best American football league, the city of Munich and the Allianz Arena announced that, in addition to 2026, a match has also been scheduled for 2028, making it the fourth regular season game at FC Bayern’s football stadium. The league had already made stops in the Bavarian capital in 2022 and 2024. This autumn, it was Berlin’s turn; in 2027 and then 2029, games will be played there again at the Olympic Stadium.

This means that four NFL guest appearances are planned in Germany by 2029. ‘Germany is of great strategic importance for the NFL in Europe,’ said Alexander Steinforth, NFL boss responsible for German-speaking countries. ‘Munich has a very special place in the hearts of our fans, as regular season games have already taken place here in 2022 and 2024.’

Teams for 2026 still to be confirmed

At the premiere a good three years ago, superstar Tom Brady even took to the field in a Tampa Bay Buccaneers jersey and raved about the German fans afterwards. The exact date of the game in Munich has not yet been finalised, nor have the participating teams. Steinforth said that there is great demand from teams that hold marketing rights in Germany. These include top teams such as the New England Patriots, Kansas City Chiefs and Detroit Lions with German star Amon-Ra St. Brown.

As is usual with major events, hotel prices will skyrocket. It will also be difficult to find venues for events before the games. So if you are planning an evening event for the NFL games in Munich and need musicians and logistical support, you should request assistance from a local professional such as munich-event.com as early as possible.
